Illuminate Electrical is a local domestic electrical business based at Winkfield Row, between Ascot and Bracknell. Illuminate Electrical works out of Winkfield Row, a couple of minutes from Ascot racecourse, covering Ascot, Windsor and the surrounding areas. Michael runs it, and it's Michael or the team who turns up — not a call centre three counties away booking someone in on your behalf.
Most weeks are ordinary domestic electrics: a consumer unit that should have been swapped a decade ago, an EICR for a landlord, a tripping circuit nobody can find, a car charger on the side of a garage. Then there's the other half of the business — garden lighting. We draw a scheme for the garden, install it on low-voltage LED, and come back after dark to aim and dim it until it actually looks like something.

The speciality
Most electricians fit lights.We design the scheme first.
A garden lighting plan drawn before anything goes in the ground, low-voltage LED throughout, fittings chosen to survive a Berkshire winter — and an evening spent on site after dark aiming and dimming it. We'd usually suggest putting around 6–10% of a garden build budget into the lighting, because it's the part you use for the half of the year you'd otherwise never see the garden at all.

Most gardens get designed for June and then sit in the dark for six months. A lighting scheme is drawn first — steps and level changes marked for safety, one or two things chosen to be the focal point, everything else deliberately left dark so the lit parts mean something. Low-voltage LED, buried and protected cable, and a final evening on site aiming and dimming.
The fuse box nobody has looked at since the kitchen was done
A consumer unit replacement is the single upgrade that changes a house's electrical safety the most. Our standard board is full RCBO with a surge protection device fitted as standard, every circuit tested before and after, every way labelled clearly — and a certificate at the end that a solicitor, a letting agent or the next owner can actually use.
Smart controls fitted by someone ten minutes away
Smart thermostats on most modern boilers, lighting on app control or a schedule, occupancy sensors in the places you always walk into with your hands full. The advantage of using a local electrician for it is simple: when you want another scene adding in six months, the person who wired it is still up the road at Winkfield Row.

There's no menu pricing here because no two houses are the same. We look at the job, explain the options in plain English, and give you a price before anything starts.

Done, tested, written up
The work is carried out and tested to the 18th Edition, and you get the paperwork that proves it — an installation certificate, a minor works certificate or a full written EICR, depending on the job.
